How Anna Wintour made Serena Williams 'feel like a princess and superwoman' on her wedding day
The strapless belted number by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen also featured a cape
Every bride wants to feel extra special on their wedding day and, thanks to Anne Wintour, Serena Williams got her fairy tale.
The tennis champion exchanged vows with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian at the Contemporary Performing Arts Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Thursday 16 November. The Beauty and The Beast-themed wedding nuptials were attended by the likes of Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria.
Sharing a theatrical snap of her stunning Alexander McQueen gown on Instagram, Williams credited the Vogue editor-in-chief for knowing exactly what would make her feel like a princess on her big day.
The strapless Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress boasted a huge skirt and sparkling XIV Karats jewellery. It also featured a cape.
"For the first dress When Anna Wintour asked me what I wanted to wear I said "a cape, I just want to wear a cape" she said: "well Sarah Burton with @alexandermcqueen is the one for you." Thanks Anna. Thanks Sarah. I felt like a princess and superwoman all at once. : @mistadubb @ericamelissa_" posted Williams as a caption.
Rather than own glass slippers, Willaims wore a pair of bedazzled Nike Cortes customised by Michelle Erakimishell, because comfort was her number one priority.
Let's not forget that back in 2015, the athlete was a real-life hero when she taught an unlucky culprit a lesson by chasing him down after he made the mistake of trying to make off with her mobile phone.
Williams, who has often been targeted by body-shamers due to her physique, used the post as an opportunity to encourage fans struggling with similar issues. She wrote: "Superhero? Maybe? Or HELL YEA!! I've got the speed the jumps, the power, the body, the seduction, the sex appeal, the strength, the leadership and yet the calm to weather the storm. Always listen to your superhero inner voice."
Meanwhile, the 39-time Grand Slam winner showed off her enormous new wedding ring in a sweet snap of adorable daughter Alexis Olympia wearing a leopard print dress.
"Daddy knows how much I love leopard print," the caption, written as if said by the baby, read.
The enormous emerald cut ring glittered with an eternity band that had a teardrop concave as she held on to her daughter's legs.
