How to Install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on HTC One M7 via LiquidSmooth ROM
HTC One M7 users can now enjoy the latest Lollipop features with new Android 5.0.2 firmware, thanks to the release of LiquidSmooth ROM by the industrious custom Android developers.
The ROM is based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP), which comes in a lightweight package with the latest Lollipop features onboard.
As the ROM is still in its alpha stage of development, it may harbour some untested bugs or broken features.
Nevertheless, those who wish to try out an early release of Android 5.0.2 update instead of waiting for the official OTA release can go ahead and install the LiquidSmooth ROM on their One M7, using the step-by-step guide provided below.

Pre-requisites
- The instructions provided in this guide are limited to HTC One M7 and will not work with any other model. Verify your device model from Settings > About Phone
- Ensure your phone has at least 80% battery charge to avoid inadvertent shutdown during theinstallation process
- Make sure the correct USB drivers (download here) are installed for the phone on the computer
- Enable USB debugging on your phone from Settings > Developer Options.
- Ensure that your device is factory unlocked and rooted via CWM or TWRP recovery, before you proceed.

Steps to install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on HTC One M7 via LiquidSmooth ROM
Step 1 - Download LiquidSmooth Android 5.0.2 ROM and Google Apps for HTC One M7 to your computer and extract boot.img from the zip file separately.
Step 2 - Connect and mount your HTC One USB mass storage on computer via USB cable.
Step 3 - Now copy the downloaded Android 5.0 ROM zip and Google Apps zip files to the root folder on your phone's SD card.
Step 4 – Then copy the boot.img file to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory.
Step 5 - Power off your phone and boot it into Bootloader or Fastboot mode as follows:
- Switch on the phone while pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons.
Step 7 – Once you enter Fastboot mode (on your phone), go to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory (on your computer) and launch Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt).
Step 8 - Type the following command and hit Enter.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Step 9 - Then, type the following command and tap Enter.
fastboot reboot
Step 10 - Follow the onscreen navigation instructions and select BOOTLOADER. Then choose the option to boot into RECOVERY.
Step 11 – After booting into CWM Recovery, perform a full data wipe by selecting wipe data/factory reset. Tap Power button to select any option in Recovery Mode.
Step 12 - Then, perform a cache wipe by selecting wipe cache partition.
Step 13 – Finally, perform dalvik cache wipe to prevent boot loops or ROM related errors. In CWM recovery, go to 'advanced' and then select wipe dalvik cache.
Step 14 - Return to the main recovery screen and select install zip from SD card.
Step 15 – Then select choose zip from sdcard. Use volume keys to navigate to the Android5.0 ROM zip file that you copied earlier to your SD card and select it by tapping Power button. Confirm the ROM installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should begin.
Google Apps: Repeat the previous step (step 15) to install Gapps as well.
Step 16 - Once Gapps is also installed, hit "+++++Go Back+++++" and reboot the phone by selecting reboot system now from the recovery menu as show below.
Your One M7 will reboot now and it may take about 5 minutes for first boot to complete. So, please do not interrupt the process.
Your HTC One M7 should now be running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop via LiquidSmooth ROM installed on it. Go to Settings > About phone to verify the firmware installed.
