How to mute WhatsApp conversation on your iPhone
WhatsApp fans are in for a special treat, as iOS developer Ibrahim Sammour has just rolled out a new jailbreak tweak called 'WA ShutUp', which allows you to temporarily block or mute all messages of an ensuing conversation with some annoying individual in your contact list.
As there is no built-in mechanism to stop message notifications or to mute individual conversations in WhatsApp, this tweak should come in handy especially when you are in a meeting or some closed door conference with someone in your office.
Folks at iPhone Hacks have revealed a smart way to enable or disable the muted conversation via the dedicated preferences pane in Settings menu.
Here is how you do it:
- To mute a conversation, just swipe the conversation to the left and select More > Mute
- To unmute the conversation, swipe the muted conversation to the left again and tap on More > Unmute
Note: You can mute any conversation for a period of eight hours, a week or for the whole year. When you mute a conversation, a tiny mute icon appears at the bottom right corner of the conversation.
Also, you can only mute those contacts with whom you have already started a conversation and not with newer contacts.
The app is up for purchase via Cydia's Bigboss repo at $0.99. It works on the latest version of WhatsApp (v 2.11.16) and is supported on both iOS 7 and iOS 8.
