HTC One M9: Android 6.0 Marshmallow being rolled out to T-Mobile users in US
T-Mobile has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to HTC One M9 users in the US. Sprint and Verizon subscribers have already started to receive the latest Android update.
T-Mobile's support page for the handset was updated to show that software version 5.29.1700.18 has been released for the HTC One M9 on its network. It details the steps and requirements needed for the update.
Requirements to update to Marshmallow as per T-Mobile
- 50% or higher battery life
- Wi-Fi data connection
- Internal storage capacity of 750 MB or more
Many T-Mobile One M9 owners are, however, reporting that Android 6.0 update is arriving in two parts, with the first being a smaller 98.64MB update to prepare your phone, and then a second 1.32GB update that completes the installation.
T-Mobile has not posted official change logs for the update and neither has HTC . The latest version of the Android is said to have significant changes such as the doze mode, do not disturb mode, app permissions, verified boot, flex storage and Google's Now on Tap feature among others.
The M9 is not HTC's first device to receive Marshmallow. The One A9 started receiving the update from December 2015. Interestingly the One M8 also managed to receive the update before the M9.
