Android 6.0 Marshmallow being rolled out to Sprint-driven HTC One M9 users in US
Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade is rolling out to HTC One M9 owners having subscribed to Sprint's services in the US. The roll-out, which commenced on 5 February, will reach M9 users in phases.
The HTC One A9, dubbed as iPhone 6's twin, was the first HTC device to get the Marshmallow upgrade. M9 users were surprised when Android's latest OS was rolled out to One M8 users, ahead of its predecessor.
The new update, which will be suggested via an automatic notification, will bring the M9's firmware to version 3.41.651.3. In case you do not get the update, you can check for it manually.
Go do so, navigate to Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check now. In case the device states software is up to date, please be patient as the update would seed in the following few days. In case the update is available, you can select the option, but make sure you have enough storage space for the download.
Prior to this, only unlocked One M9 units in the US were seeded the update in December 2015. However, some Canadian carrier variants also reported receiving the Marshmallow update for the One M9.
The successor to the One M9, the HTC One M10 dubbed as HTC Perfume, is expected to debut in March this year. It will come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
