Huddersfield welcome Rajiv van La Parra back from ban as Michael Hefele trains ahead of Chelsea
The Dutchman is back in contention while defender Hefele returns to first-team training.
Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has no fresh injury concerns to contend with ahead of his side's clash with Chelsea on Tuesday (12 December) and is set to include Rajiv van La Parra in his squad to face the Premier League champions after the Dutchman served a three-match suspension.
Van La Parra was sent off after clashing with Manchester City's Leroy Sane last month and missed the matches against Arsenal, Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion as a result of his indiscretion.
Wagner confirmed he had a serious conversation with the attacker after the red card but is ready to select the 26-year-old for the visit of Chelsea and believes he has "something to prove" ahead of the visit of Antonio Conte's men.
Van La Parra's availability was coupled with the news of Michael Hefele's return to first-team training. The German defender has been troubled by a nasty Achilles problem in recent months but his return is a huge plus-point for Wagner ahead of a gruelling festive period, though the game against Chelsea is likely to come too soon for the 27-year-old.
"No news injury wise," Wagner said in his press conference, per the Huddersfield Examiner. "Michael Hefele was back in training with the group yesterday, which was a big boost for us. Rajiv van la Parra will be back in the squad. Before his suspension he made some big steps offensively and defensively. He has something to prove."
Huddersfield had lost eight of their last 11 matches prior to their 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday. Striker Steve Mounie scored a brace to give Wagner's side their first win since the beginning of November, and the German thinks his summer signing is beginning to approach his best form, which he will hope to display against Chelsea.
"He [Mounie] is a player who needs his best fitness level to perform," Wagner said. "He is one of the fittest, strongest guys in our squad and he needed time to get back to that level.
"I was very pleased for him (against Brighton) and us because we need goal scorers and goal threats in the squad and he is one."
