Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed have sparked dating rumours.

Ian Somderhalder and Nikki Reed have sparked rumours that they are dating, after the two were recently spotted shopping at the Farmer's Market in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old Vampire Diaries star was pictured putting his arms around Reed and nuzzling her neck.

The previous day, Somerhalder and Reed, who is well known for her role as Rosalie Cullen in the Twilight franchise, were jogging together as well.

"There are feelings there between the two," a source told Hollywood Life.

"They are really tip toeing into something. They are trying to see if their friendship can be more, but it is at its infancy," the insider added. "They are really taking things slow because they don't want to ruin their friendship, but there are also feelings there between the two.

"They are keeping it very hush hush. Nikki is still dealing with the Paul breakup very hard — and Ian has been there for her. So they are just taking things in stride right now," the source continued.

Somderhalder and Reed reportedly used to double date when they were in relationships with Nina Dobrev and Paul McDonald, respectively.

Somerhalder dated Vampire Diaries co-star Dobrev, for more than three years, before splitting in May last year.

The two kept their relationship largely private and only acknowledged it publically in 2011. Dobrev, in an interview with Seventeen magazine, said her priority had always been to maintain professionalism.

"I didn't want to be dating one of my costars -my goal on the show was to be professional," she said then, "But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long -which I did for a really, really long time."

Meanwhile, Reed, tied the knot with McDonald in October 2011. They met at the Red Riding Hood premiere in March 2011.

However, in May, the 26-year-old actress officially filed for divorce from McDonald almost two months after they revealed they had split.
