Jamaica Tallawahs take on St Lucia Zouks in the 30th match of the 2016 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, on Sunday (31 July).

Overview

The Chris Gayle-led Tallawahs who have already qualified for the play-off stages are currently in the second place in the points table with 13 points from nine games. A win here for the Tallawahs will ensure that they finish in the first place at the end of the group stage.

The Jamaican outfit come into this clash on the back of a 63-run loss at the hands of the Zouks in their last game on 30 July. It was an abject performance by both the batsmen and the bowlers, with the team conceding 206 runs in the first innings.

Andre Russell, who led the bowling attack in the absence of Dale Steyn, was hammered for 64 off his four overs with only Kesrick Williams showing some sort of control with the ball. What will be of immediate concern for the team management is Gayle's form as he has failed with the bat once again scoring just 13.

The Zouks who at one point looked down and out come into the match full of confidence, winning four games on the trot. Their late resurgence has enabled them to move to the third place in the points table and seal a spot in the play-off stage.

The Zouks' last game was against Jamaica on 30 July, in which all their players contributed. Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles and Shane Watson played impressive knocks, coming into form just at the right time while their bowlers have been consistent if not spectacular.

The St Lucia outfit will in all probability go in with the same side that took the field on Saturday.
