John Legend and Chrissy Teigen expecting first child weeks after revealing fertility struggles
Congratulations are in order for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who have announced they are expecting their first child. Taking to social media, the Sport Illustrated model shared the news with fans by posting a candid black and white shot of herself and the All Of Me hitmaker.
"John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant :)" she captioned the image on Instagram. "As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now.
"It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family. We're so excited that it's finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching! Xx."
Legend also shared the same snap on his timeline with the caption: " We're pregnant."
The baby news comes just weeks after Teigen opened up about their fertility struggles during an episode of her new show, FABLife. Speaking to co-host Tyra Banks, she revealed they had sort professional help after trying for years to conceive. "I will say honestly John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened. But my gosh it's been a process," Teigen said.
"We've seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it."
She went on to say she found it painful when people questioned her about starting a family because they did not know what she was going through. She said: "So any time somebody asks if I'm going to have kids I'm just like, 'One day you're going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it's going to be really hurtful to them and I hate that. Stop asking me.'"
The couple, who tied the knot during a ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, in 2013, celebrated their second wedding anniversary on 14 September.
