Jose Mourinho reveals he has already started work as Manchester United's new manager
New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he is already busily preparing for the new season. The 53-year-old manager signed a three-year contract with the Old Trafford club on 27 May and has posted a picture on his Instagram account of his preparatory work.
The image on the photo-sharing website shows a folder featuring the words "Summer with Euro 2016 and Copa America 2016"' alongside a picture of the United crest. Mourinho captioned the image "Back at work".
Mourinho gave his first interview since becoming the club's manager on Friday and revealed he was relishing the challenge, having been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in December. "I think we can look at our club now in two perspectives. One perspective is the past three years and the other is the club history," the new United boss told the club's in-house TV station MUTV.
"I prefer to forget the past three years, I prefer to focus on the giant club I have in my hands now and I think what the fans are expecting me to say is that I want to win. I want to win. And more than that I need the supporters and players to feel that I say that, it's not just for the sake of saying it."
United's new manager is widely expected to sign a number of players in the summer transfer window, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Chelsea midfielder Willian rumoured to be among his transfer targets. What's more, United are said to have handed him a transfer kitty of around £200m ($292.4m) to help restore the club back to the top.
