Kate Upton engaged to Justin Verlander: Supermodel flashes giant rock at Met Gala 2016
It was a bling-ring moment for Kate Upton on the red carpet event of the prestigious fashion fundraiser Met Gala 2016. The supermodel walked in a custom Topshop silver gown with a thigh-high split as her hair reminisced the vintage Hollywood curls. Undoubtedly, the 23-year-old looked glamorous every bit, especially with a giant rock adorning her finger and also indicating to the onlookers that she is engaged!
The Sports Illustrated model broke the exciting news to E! as she strutted down the red carpet showing off her stunning diamond ring. Sharing her big news she said: "I'm really excited, he asked me right before season started so we've been keeping it on the down low for quite a while."
"So I'm excited to finally be able to share it with the world!"
Upton's lucky man happens to be her boyfriend of three years and Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander. Not the ones to shy away from displaying their affection in public, the swimsuit model and the Detroit Tigers ace have been dating for more than three years and their Instagram posts are signs that the two are made for each other. While celebrity couples tend to be lavish and exquisite, these two seem to be down-to-earth, especially when it comes to their romance.
While talking to the Forbes magazine about the perils of fame and that time when an internet hack led to the leak of private pictures, Verlander gushed about the support he received from his model girlfriend. "I grinded through it... Kate's there a lot for me," he said. "And we're just normal people. You know, normal relationship — believe it or not."
Speaking of normal relationships, the couple has so far stayed away from the glitz and glamour, enjoying rather simple things like a visit to the animal kingdom. Explaining how they manage to work this out, Upton told E!: "For us, we always try and work on our communication. We're very open with one another and we're each other's best friends. He's definitely my best friend, so I think that helps a lot."
