Kerry Katona and George Kay divorce: Atomic Kitten star ends third marriage after 13 months
Reality star Kerry Katona has ended her marriage to former rugby league player George Kay after 13 months. The former Atomic Kitten singer confirmed she was preparing to divorce her third husband just hours after he was arrested for allegedly attacking her and possessing a Taser gun.
Her spokesperson confirmed in a statement: "It is with deep sadness that Kerry announces the end of her marriage to George Kay. Her focus now will be on her gorgeous children."
Earlier in October, reports emerged that Kay was taken into police custody after officers responded to calls that a woman had been attacked and the culprit was in possession of a Taser. Katona was allegedly left with bruises on her face and arms.
A Sussex Police spokesman confirmed a man was arrested at an address in Crowborough. "A 35-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm to a 35-year-old woman, and of unlawful possession of a Taser," he said. Police later confirmed Kay had been released on bail until 24 October.
Katona married Kay at the Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel in South Gloucestershire in September 2014 after a whirlwind romance. Katie Price served as one of her bridesmaids.
She has previously been married to former Westlife star Brian McFadden and taxi driver Mark Croft. Among her children are Molly, 14, and 12-year-old Lilly-Sue from her marriage to McFadden, while Croft is the father of Heidi, eight, and Maxwell, seven. She has Dylan-Jorge, one, with Kay.
In May, Kay hinted there was trouble in paradise when he said marriage was not what he thought it would be. He told Closer magazine: "We've been rowing a lot. Marriage isn't what I thought it would be if I'm honest. I thought it would be all sunshine and happiness, but it's really hard work – especially for us."
The couple were last pictured together at the National Reality TV Awards in London on 30 September.
