Kylo Ren's scars in Star Wars 8: Rian Johnson explains major continuity error in The Last Jedi
Rey's lightsaber hit Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens, giving him a permanent scar on his forehead.
What happened to Kylo Ren's scar in Star Wars 8? One fan noticed a major continuity error in The Last Jedi trailer and immediately brought it up to Rian Johnson. The director admitted that the scar does not match to the one shown in The Force Awakens and gave a candid explanation, saying he thought the mark was "goofy".
"It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification. It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose," he replied to the fan query.
In Star Wars 7, Rey and Kylo have a major fight, which leaves the commander of the First Order with a permanent scar.
The new and improvised scar on Ren's face matches to that of his grandfather and Sith lord Darth Vader aka Anakin Skywalker. Considering Ren's devotion towards Darth Vader's dark legacy, rumours have it that Han Solo and Leia Organa's son will try and change his appearance to look more like his grandfather in the upcoming sequel.
The Last Jedi is set to begin right where the Force Awaken concluded (with the rendezvous between Rey and Luke Skywalker). The recently-released official teaser divulged a lot of the plot details. The former Jedi master is training Rey to balance the Force but he also cautions that the time of Jedi is coming to an end.
The cryptic dialogue from Mark Hamill's character sparked numerous fan theories with many believing that after suffering years of pain, personal loss, and self-imposed exile, Luke may follow his father Darth Vader's footsteps and turn towards the dark side.
With multiple powerful plots, the film is touted to explore greater stories of each of its major characters. The Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Adam Driver starrer film will open in theatres on 15 December 2017.
