The labour market in 2016: These are the 25 best jobs to apply for in the UK
If your "new year, new me" mantra includes a career shift, searching for the best new job in 2016 can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. The job market per sector is always changing and new popular career opportunities come and go.
Job website Glassdoor has released its top 25 best jobs to look for in 2016. Based on potential salary, career opportunities and the current amount of job openings, business development manager and finance manager positions have come out on top.
Although the job titles may sound a bit boring, Glassdoor claims the roles are rewarding in terms of salary as well as job satisfaction. "Business development managers help an organisation become as successful as possible," it said in a press release.
However, the pay cheque that comes with the job is obviously a reason to search job sites for that title. Business development managers earn an average base salary of £40,000, while finance managers make around£55,000 a year, more than double the average annual salary in the UK of £26,500.
"The UK jobs market is in a buoyant mood with record numbers of people in employment and a good ratio of available roles per job-seeker," said Diarmuid Russell, vice-president of international at Glassdoor.
"These results demonstrate that popular jobs in business development, recruitment and HR mean UK businesses are placing greater importance on growing numbers, building teams and of course generating the highest net-profit possible."
