Liverpool to Axe Senior Players to Make Way For Younger Talent - Report
Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt and Argentinean winger Maxi Rodriguez may be looking at a possible Liverpool exit this summer, reported The Sun.
Liverpool, apart from winning the Carling Cup and still competing in the FA Cup, have had a pretty bad run in the Premier League this season, registering thee recent back-to-back defeats against QPR, Wigan and Newcastle.
The Reds are reportedly looking to follow the same path as Chelsea, whose owner Roman Abramovich has threatened a mass clearout in the upcoming transfer season this summer. The threat has actually worked for the Blues as they seem to be improving in these past few games.
Now Liverpool, who will be looking to do the same, are reportedly trying to do away with the services of Kuyt and Rodriguez.
Kuyt, who has been at Anfield for six years, has not been getting enough first team football and he is reportedly struggling to accept that fact. However, Kuyt is on the radar of a number of European clubs including Roma, Fiorentina and Feyenoord (Kuyt's former club) if he happens to exit Liverpool this summer.
Argentinean winger Maxi Rodriguez has also been reportedly asked to leave by Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, who is looking to bring in fresh young talent this summer. The 31-year-old striker, who was once a prized asset of Liverpool, has only featured in a total of 15 games this season.
A third player, Brazilian defender Fabio Aurelio, will also be reportedly exiting Anfield, to make way for 17-year-old Feyenoord midfielder Tonny de Vilhena and 16-year-old Crewe starlet Dan Smith.
