Liverpool will take on Aston Villa in the weekend Premier League clash at Anfield on 26 September, Saturday.

Where to Watch

Kick-off is set for 5.30pm BST. Catch the highlights of the match on Match of the Day on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10.30pm BST.

Overview

Both Liverpool and Aston Villa have progressed to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup after their latest victories. The Reds defeated Carlisle United on penalties as the scoreline remained 1-1 after the end of the extra time.

Villa, on the other hand, sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over Birmingham City at home to progress further in the competition. Rudy Gestede scored the only goal, which was the difference between the two sides.

The Reds and Tim Sherwood's side have not enjoyed a great run in the league. Liverpool have won two matches, while Villa's 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth is their only win in the league this season.

Both teams will be looking for nothing less than a win when they face each other at Anfield on Saturday. Christian Benteke, who moved from Villa to Liverpool, will miss the match due to injury.

What managers say

Gary McAllister: "Like everybody, we're delighted to be through to the next round. It's a good night in the fact we are through to the next round. We want to perform better. It will get better. We are working away hard at it in training and we will persevere."

Tim Sherwood: "He (Jack Grealish) was fantastic. He's good when he gets the space. I had a word with him in the week about trying to put some work rate in out of possession, I'm not asking him to be a tiger in the midfield area but I want him to get himself back into a shape. It might help him out when we win the ball back, it might be easier for people to find him."
