Manchester United 'among six clubs chasing Bordeaux teenager Adam Ounas'
Manchester United are one of six clubs reportedly chasing French teenager Adam Ounas. The 19-year-old attacker emerged on the scene at Bordeaux last season and is apparently attracting interest from a host of sides, four of whom are in the Premier League.
United face stiff competition to sign the talented youngster from Stoke City, Southampton, Napoli and RB Leipzig, as well as another unnamed club. Ounas, who scored five goals and provided two assists in 23 appearances last season, is among the most sought-after young players in Europe, because of his pace and dribbling skills.
United boss Jose Mourinho is hot on the heels of the youngster, and has reportedly bid £10m ($14.2m) for his services, according to RMCSport. However, that sum may not prove to be sufficient to prize him away from the French side, for whom he was one of few bright sparks last season. Ounas' current contract expires in 2019 and Bordeaux are not thought to be overly-keen to sell one of their most treasured players.
Mourinho has already made one signing this summer, bringing in Eric Bailly from Villarreal. However, the Portuguese is thought to be in the market for more players in the coming months as he seeks to overhaul United's much-maligned squad.
Any move for Ounas might cast doubt over the future of Spaniard Juan Mata, whose style of play is very similar and was sold by the United boss during his second spell in charge of Chelsea. Indeed, Mourinho previously suggested Mata did not work hard enough for his Chelsea side when they were not in possession of the ball.
