Full time: Manchester United 4-0 Fenerbahce
Perhaps the most routine victory of Jose Mourinho's tenure in charge. Two first-half penalties, coupled with Paul Pogba's strike put United on course at half time, before Jesse Lingard complete the rout with a second half fourth. The home fans even had a Robin van Persie goal to enjoy, which was met by applause from all corners of Old Trafford.
It was the ideal way to blow away the cobwebs after the draw at Liverpool and warm-up for Mourinho's return to Chelsea this weekend. Speaking of which, we'll be back with full coverage of all the weekend's Premier League football including the clash at Stamford Bridge. Until then however, goodbye.
Goal: Manchester United 4-1 Fenerbahce (Robin van Persie)
Quite a moment at Old Trafford as Robin van Persie nets a consolation for Fenerbahce with a tidy finish, a goal which is met with raptures of applause from all corners of the ground. A moment to restore your faith in football, following Van Persie's three-year spell at United. Sloppy from the hosts, but their supporters seem unperturbed.
Goal: Manchester United 4-0 Fenerbahce (Jesse Lingard)
United home and dry but their pressing game has not relented and they make it four less than three minutes after the restart. Pogba and Rooney combine to tee up Lingard, who rifles into the bottom corner from 25 yards. A comfortable win turning into a rout, and Mourinho can look ahead to Chelsea on Sunday.
Half time: Manchester United 3-0 Fenerbahce
From one glance at the scoreline you'd think is has been plain sailing for the home side, but it has been nothing of the sort in this opening 45 minutes. United have lacked ideas throughout but two defence-splitting passes from Michael Carrick and Juan Mata - which have led to penalties from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial - and a fine strike from the world's most expensive player ensures Jose Mourinho's men are home and dry.
Goal: Manchester United 3-0 Fenerbahce (Paul Pogba)
Far from his very best since joining from Juventus, but a hint of what Paul Pogba can do on the stroke of half-time. Rooney's cross is taken in brilliantly by Jesse Lingard, whose perfectly-weighted lay-off finds Pogba on the run who sweeps the ball high into the top corner to put United out of sight.
Goal: Manchester United 2-0 Fenerbahce (Anthony Martial)
Amazing. United given the chance to double their lead less than a minute later as Mata turns provider to find Martial, who is taken out by Şener Özbayraklı. Referee Bastien has no hesitation but to point to the spot, but this time it is Martial, not Pogba or Wayne Rooney, who steps up and steers United 2-0 to the good.
Goal: Manchester United 1-0 Fenerbahce (Paul Pogba)
A gift from Fenerbahce helps a lacklustre United take the lead. Michael Carrick picks out Juan Mata with a fine 40-yard pass. The Spaniard is the wrong side of Simon Kjaer and is brought down. Paul Pogba, rather than Wayne Rooney, steps up and sends goalkeeper Volkan Demirel the wrong way.
"Have you seen the line-up and the bench?" That was the response from Dick Advocaat when asked if he thought Manchester United were taking things easy with their team selection tonight. The Dutchman will be under no illusions over the challenge facing his side tonight, even if there have been seven changes from the Liverpool draw.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan misses out again for Manchester United tonight. Here is Jose Mourinho on why: "One thing is fit and not injured, another thing is match fitness, match intensity and ready to play this game," Mourinho told BT Sport. "I play with Lingard and Martial and I have Rashford and Memphis on the bench, I cannot play with everyone at the same time. Mikhi has not played for a long time."
Into the final 15 minutes at the San Siro where a 10-man Inter have the lead over Premier League Southampton. Intriguing last passage of play on our live blog.
Tonight sees the latest chapter in the Wayne Rooney saga, as he makes a return to the first team after three games of being forced to come off the bench. Even Gareth Southgate demoted the England captain and there remains little doubt he has it all to do to regain his place for both club and country. Tonight looks as though he will play in a central attacking role, with Lingard and Martial either side, but can he provide the thrust his performances have been lacking?
Remember, Manchester United are not the only Premier League side in action tonight, with Southampton taking on Inter Milan at the San Siro. Claude Puel's team are giving it a might good go too with an hour gone in Italy. Follow the remaining 30 minutes here.
Fenerbahce might be no strangers to the lights of Old Trafford, but their preparations for their return to Manchester have been somewhat disrupted. The plane carrying the players was forced into an emergency landing in Budapest yesterday after a pigeon cracked the windscreen. The team arrived on English shores several hours late and were forced to cancel a training session scheduled for Wednesday [19 October]. Not ideal for Dick Advocaat's side, but his experience alone should ensure they're ready come kick-off.
Before we start building up to tonight's game at Old Trafford, a mention that if you'd like to keep up with Southampton's trip to the San Siro to face Inter Milan then you can do via our live blog. Game approaching half time in Italy.
Jose Mourinho can hardly have been endeared by the prospect of a second game in four days, sandwiched between the dreary draw at Liverpool and first return to former club Chelsea, and even less so by the fixture coming in the Europa League - a competition he loathes with unique relish.
The reality is Manchester United's European campaign thus far has reflected the outlook of their manager; laboured, sluggish and indifferent in a competition that is a burden rather than any sort of realistic route into the Champions League. Three points have come from their two games and if they have any ambitions of reaching the knock-out phase then tonight's game is a must-win.
Dick Advocaat-managed Turkish club Fenerbahce represent the familiar opponents, and Robin van Persie the friendly among the visitors following his successful three-year spell at Old Trafford. All the team news and build up ahead of the kick-off at 8:05pm on the way.
