Mauricio Pochettino reveals who will have the final word on Kyle Walker transfer

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino admits the decision over whether Kyle Walker remains at the club may be out of his hands.

Recent reports suggest the England international has grown unsettled at White Hart Lane after he was left on the bench in two of the club's biggest games of the season; the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea and the north London derby against Arsenal.

A move away this summer would now appear to beckon with Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona the clubs credited with interest.

Tottenham have more pressing matters at home with the club still hoping to peg back Chelsea in the pursuit of the Premier League title with just four games remaining. They can move to within just one point of the Blues if they can secure victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Friday, a game Walker could feature in, according to Pochettino, who says the player's focus has not wavered.

But as far as the player's long-term future is concerned, the Spurs boss insists the club will handle the decision, not him.

"I think I told you, all the players, we will decide which players will leave and which stay and who we sign," Pochettino told a press conference on Thursday, football.london report.

"Club decision always, because I am Tottenham manager. It is not Mauricio Pochettino Football Club. That is very important to clarify. In three years, [it is] always the club's decision."

Having acted as Walker's understudy for most of the season, Kieran Trippier has now moved ahead in the pecking order at White Hart Lane. With only the exceptions of Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela, virtually every member of the Spurs first-team has been handed a new contract this term, prompting speculation Trippier may be next in line.

"Kieran still has three years, but the good thing now is that we are all focused in trying to finish the season. The day after Hull we can start to speak about all the things that will maybe happen at the club next season."
