Michelle Keegan salary: Our Girl star earns 16 times more than Corrie wage but misses Mark Wright
Former soap star earns much of her pennies from fashion and beauty endorsements.
Michelle Keegan's career has gone from strength to strength since departing Coronation Street, and her bank balance has the evidence to back it up. The 29-year-old actress – who played Tina McIntyre on the cobbles between 2008 and 2014 – has racked up a steady income according to figures from her firm, Rosia Promotions Ltd.
Though Keegan, who is married to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, enjoyed regular working hours on Corrie, she earned £60,000 a year and could not endorse products from fashion and beauty brands under her ITV contract.
Now, it has been revealed that the Our Girl star has earned a majority of her cash from non-acting jobs including modelling for high street fashion label Lipsy, which is said to pay around £250,000 a year alone.
Her promotion for Garnier's Ambre Solaire self-tan range is reported to have earned her £150,000, with her total salary for last year mounting to just under £1million, 16 times more than her Coronation Street annual wage.
A source close to Keegan said to The Sun: "Corrie was a dream come true but she had to leave for the sake of her bank balance. It looks like a shrewd move."
And the actress undoubtedly doesn't regret the career adjustment, having starred in popular BBC show Ordinary Lies and now Our Girl, which will air this autumn. She was also cast as Tina Moore in the upcoming ITV drama about Bobby Moore and his wife.
She has also experimented with alternative television shows including Drunk History and Plebs – the latter in which she had her first on-screen sex scene. But her increasing busy work-life is leaving less time for her husband of one year, Wright, with Keegan recently claiming that she does not see him as often as she would like.
She told LOOK magazine: "Mark's always looking at his diary and I'm looking at mine and my friends are all in a group on WhatApps trying to arrange their time. Our Girl is going to be shown in the autumn and I've just got a new show ITV drama Tina and Bobby] about Bobby Moore, which I'm very excited about. Then I'm definitely going away with Mark and we're going to have a nice relaxing holiday," she added.
