Steve Harvey is all set to return to host the most anticipated beauty pageant.
Miss Universe 2017 is all set to dazzle the resort city as the 66 edition of the international beauty pageant will be held in Las Vegas on 26 November. The winner of the contest will be crowned by Iris Mittenaere, who won the pageant title for 2016 held in January this year.
Since most countries in the world will be looking forward to the evening, IBTimes UK has gathered all the details of the upcoming event ahead of the ceremony.
When and where is Miss Universe 2017?
The event will be held at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The three-hour event will be telecast live on Fox at 7pm ET/PT.
Who is hosting the event?
Steve Harvey is all set to return to host the most anticipated beauty pageant. The Five-time Emmy Award-winning host previously stirred huge controversy for his announcement gaffe during the 2015 contest which was held in Las Vegas. The US TV personality mistakenly named Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner but moments later, her crown was removed only to be given to Miss Philippines.
Apart from Harvey, plus-size model designer and body activist, Ashley Graham will take charge of the backstage hosting. Grammy Award-winning R&B group, Boyz II Men is set to rock the evening with its performance.
American television personality Ross Mathews, Lele Pons, Jay Manuel, Megan Olivi and former Miss Universes Pia Wurtzbach, Wendy Fitzwilliam will judge the contestants.
Annual National Costume Show:
Prior to the final gala, the Annual National Costume Show will be held. It attracts millions of fans as in the competition, beauty queens from around the world get a chance to represents the culture of their home country by wearing the authentic costume of choice. This year 90 girls will wear colourful costumes that showcase their country's rich cultural heritage.
The costume show will be held on Saturday, 25 November, a day prior to the actual event and will be telecast live on the organisation's official Facebook and YouTube page.
The contest and who is representing the UK?
Women from over 90 countries will showcase their talent and intelligence during Sunday night to impress the judges and secure their place in the semi-finals.
But one lucky beauty queen will get the semi-final slot through popular voting. The voting lines are still open and each person is allowed to vote 10 times in a day till the event day. Fans can also vote via Twitter by sending a tweet to their favourite contestant or retweet her name with #MISSUNIVERSE.
Anna Burdzy will represent England at the beauty pageant this year. The 25-year-old has done her Master's in Human Rights Law and aspires to travel to cities affected by the refugee crisis and teach English.
