Moana movie: Disney's first Polynesian princess goes on a quest to find a mythical island
After the super success of Frozen and its snow queen Elsa, Disney has unveiled the first look of the Polynesian princess Moana at its recent D23 Expo. The movie is scheduled to premiere in November 2016 and narrates the story of a young and beautiful princess with exceptional navigational ability.
The official description for the upcoming movie by Disney reads: "Moana is a young woman who sets off to discover her destiny on the open ocean. She encounters a demigod named Maui (voiced by Dwayne The Rock Johnson) and battles ancient creatures, including an incredible character made out of molten lava. Oh, and she has a couple of adorable sidekicks in the form of a pig name Pau and an uppity rooster name Hei-Hei."
The Polynesian princess, who wears a South Pacific-inspired outfit, will sail on a journey to find a legendary island in the region of Oceania. Like the Olaf from Frozen and Dory from Finding Nemo, Moana too will get her loyal sidekicks who will accompany her in her quest for the truth.
The demigod Maui, who was born as human but raised by the Gods, will guide her through the spectacular journey through the ocean. Like any other Disney movie, fans will find a dreaded and cunning antagonist who will look terrifying with his molten lava body and scary ash-like claws. During the D23 Expo, Disney revealed every detail about the movie but it has not revealed anything about the love interest of the princess.
The Rock, who plays a major character in the upcoming tropical movie, will also sing for the movie. The popular animation movie house claims that the story is "totally new and yet utterly timeless."
