Moto G Forte Launched in Mexico Seems Less Exciting Than Expected
Earlier this week, the arrival of Moto G Forte was leaked on Twitter and it was assumed to be a "tougher and more durable" variant of the original Moto G. The leak came from prominent leaker @evleaks.
The handset has finally been released in Mexico and is now available on store shelves, according to a report from AndroidCentral. It can be purchased from carrier Nextel. It is being bundled along with 50GB of free Google Drive Storage.
Nothing New
It is worth noting that the Moto G Forte is no different from its regular sibling and happens to be less exciting than expected. It is simply a regular Moto G that comes pre-installed with a rugged grip shell case. In fact, the grip shell is available for older Moto G owners as well. It can be purchased and installed on the regular Moto G.
By giving the Moto G a tougher phone case out of the box, it looks like Motorola believes that the handset will find more takers.
Moto G's Success has Put Motorola Back on The Map
The stunning sales numbers of Motorola's Moto G handset have taken the company's market share of sales from zero to a healthy 6 percent in the UK in the three-month period to the end of February.
A report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech said that the high-value budget handset was particularly popular with men aged 16-24 in "lower income" groups. Around 83% of buyers were male and 40% had annual earnings lower than £20,000.
