NCIS season 15: Gibbs will have 'unique relationship' with Maria Bello's character
Bello's character has 'served two tours in Afghanistan' and is described as 'a positive force'.
NCIS season 15 will premiere on Tuesday (26 September) at 8pm on CBS Network and the show has added a new agent to its group following Jennifer Esposito's ( who played Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn) exit from the show.
Prime Suspect star Maria Bello has joined the cast of NCIS as a series regular for its upcoming season, who will share an interesting relationship with Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
According to the CBS, she will debut in NCIS season 15 episode 4 as an agent. The official character description reads, " She was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the army and served two tours in Afghanistan. After joining NCIS, she built her reputation as the agency's premier forensic psychologist."
The description teased some friction between Gibbs and Bello's character. "Unlike the other agents, she can second guess and challenge Gibbs, so there will be friction but also mutual respect. She is a positive force, mischievous and at times acerbic."
Co-showrunners George Schenck and Frank Cardea said that Bello would have a "unique relationship " with Gibbs. The statement reads: "We have always been big fans of Maria Bello's work and are excited to be introducing her as an agent who not only has a distinct talent, but also a unique relationship with Gibbs."
The Season 14 finale featured with the lives of major characters in jeopardy in Paraguay. Gibbs, Torres, and McGee freed the stolen children and then raced them to a waiting chopper to fly them to safety. However, the rebel army arrived on the scene and began firing on the chopper.
Gibbs joined by McCgee decided to stay behind to hold them off. The season ended with Torres, the SEAL flying the children out of the jungle, Gibbs and McGee massively outnumbered by the rebel forces.
