Netflix shares first 'Lucifer' season 5 BTS photo, showrunner talks first scene
Filming for "Lucifer" Season 5 officially begins with a behind-the-scenes photo of the cast's return to the reading table.
Netflix has released the first official behind-the-scenes photo for "Lucifer" Season 5 ahead of the show's return to the network. The image comes after showrunner Joe Henderson briefly talked about the first scene in the new season.
It's "lights, camera, action" once again for the cast and crew of the former Fox series, as filming for the latest and final season officially begins. Netflix shared a BTS snap of the returning cast along with the showrunners and writers on its Twitter page.
Series regulars Tom Ellis, who plays the titular character, along with Lauren German (Chloe), Aimee Garcia (Ella), Rachel E. Harris (Dr. Linda), D.B. Woodside (Amenadiel), Lesley Ann Brandt (Maze), and Kevin Alejandro (Dan) officially returned for the first "Lucifer" Season 5 table read on Sept. 6 to announce that production takes place the following day.
Details have been kept under wraps for the installment to avoid "Lucifer" Season 5 spoilers from leaking ahead of the show's return. However, showrunner Joe Henderson revealed in a previous interview that they already have a scene prepared for the first episode. They came up with it even before Netflix announced a renewal. Henderson called the first scene of "Lucifer" Season 5 as one of the favorite things they've ever come up with but declined to reveal details.
Co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich chimed in and said that they try to make the story as interesting as possible to not bore the audience. She called what they've come up with so far as "brilliant."
"We really try to ping it in a completely different direction. If everybody is speculating on one thing, we just try to think as batshit as we can, as outside of the box as possible, so that people don't get bored, so we don't get bored...It's an idea that when it came up in the room, we went, 'Oh God, that's crazy.' Then the more we talked about it, the more we went, 'and brilliant,'" Modrovich told Entertainment Weekly.
The Season 4 finale of "Lucifer" saw the devil back on his throne in Hell, leaving Chloe behind after she finally confessed to him that she loves him. Lucifer decided to return home to avoid another deadly demonic chaos erupting on Earth brought by his absence in Hell. Meanwhile, Eve is left to wander Earth in search of meaning and purpose and Amenadiel and Linda have an angel baby to protect.
Fans want to know more than ever if there will be a Lucifer-Chloe romance. The show has put this off for so long now and they feel it's about time "Lucifer" Season 5 address this especially since Chloe has already seen and accepted Lucifer as he truly is, devil face and all.
