North Korea: Kim Jong-un praises female fighter pilots as 'flowers of the sky'
Showing his sensitive side, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un has praised the country's first female supersonic jet pilots as "flowers of the sky".
The North Korean leader complimented the female pilots, Jo Kum-hyang and Rim Sol, after witnessing their solo take-off and landing drills, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"He [Kim Jong-un] highly appreciated them, saying that the girls' solo flight of supersonic fighters in which it is hard for men to fly is a success to be proud of in the world," reported KCNA.
Earlier, the leader distributed cosmetics and food as gifts for the wives of air force pilots in a surprise gesture in support of the International Women's Day.
"In North Korea, we let women lead hopeful lives as flowers of the nation," read an article in North Korea's state-controlled news daily in celebration of the country's women.
Another article had credited Jong-un's, "unconditional love [and] respect of women, which serves as the foundation of their lives of happiness founded on gender equality," reported UPI.
In other recent news from North Korea, Instagram users are reportedly being denied access to the site with a warning message saying the site has been blacklisted for harmful content, reported AP News.
"Warning! You can't connect to this website because it's in blacklist site," reads a message when the site is logged on using the North Korean carrier Koryolink.
