Penelope Cruz recalls a near-death experience she and Salma Hayek had while dressed as clowns
"It was really crazy, when I tell this story people think I'm making it up," Cruz shared to People.
Actress Penelope Cruz recently opened up about a terrifying near-death experience aboard a flight with her close friend Salma Hayek. She was speaking to People Magazine while promoting her new movie Murder On The Orient Express.
The 43-year-old Spanish actress recalled the time that her plane had to make an emergency landing. She explained, "I had an emergency landing on Halloween day with my friend Salma and because it was Halloween we were dressed as clowns. I've never liked clowns, even as a kid, but after this experience [I like them] even less."
The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress further added, "We were 100 people on that flight and thank God I'm here to tell you the story but it was crazy because we were all wearing costumes. It was really crazy when I tell this story people think I'm making it up."
The 43-year-old Hollywood star also shared another story about diving in Belize in the Great Blue Hole, a massive sinkhole in the water that is about 400ft deep.
"I love diving but I will never go that deep, even if I had two instructors. I was surrounded by sharks," she said. Detailing her horrifying moment, she said, "It was 40 meters deep and I was surrounded by sharks and I had narcosis, which is a very similar thing to a panic attack. When I looked up and saw all of that water, I started to pray that I could make it."
Murder On The Orient Express is based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie and is scheduled to be released on 10 November 2017 in the US.
The plot for the mystery movie centres around a lavish train ride through Europe which turns into a suspenseful mystery. It tells the story of thirteen stranded strangers and a man's mission to solve the puzzle before the murderer kills again.
The Kenneth Branagh directed movie also stars Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Tom Bateman, Leslie Odom Jr, Ziad Abaza, and Kenneth Branagh.
