Perrie Edwards had nothing to do with Zayn Malik quitting One Direction says her mother
She was described as Yoko Ono when her fiance Zayn Malik quit One Direction but Perrie Edwards' mother insists her pop star daughter had nothing to do with his decision.
Upset Directioners blamed the Little Mix singer when Malik, 22, announced he was leaving 1D in March after five years.
Many compared the situation to when singer John Lennon quit The Beatles and his wife Ono received all the backlash. However, Edwards' mother Debbie Edwards says her daughter was in no way responsible for Malik's departure.
Debbie told the Mirror's 3AM: "It was his decision and nothing to do with Perrie."
She added of their three-year relationship: "They've always been happy. Zayn's one of the nicest boys I've ever met and I couldn't imagine Perrie with anyone else.
"I feel like he's already my son, they've been together since she was on The X Factor so he's part of the family."
The couple got engaged in August 2013 after the former boy band singer proposed at a family gathering.
Multiple reports have suggested that the couple are planning to tie the knot in the summer of 2015 at Disneyland Paris but Debbie reveals they are yet to make any concrete wedding plans.
Debbie told the publication: "They've got plenty of time. They're still young. I visit quite a lot to cook them Sunday roasts.
"She could be like, 'Mam, I'm upset, take the day off and spend it with me', and I would."
The loved-up couple's relationship has been rocked by cheating claims over the years and most recently, Malik was accused of getting close to Love Island contestant Lauren Richardson while on a night out in Thailand.
Black Magic singer Edwards has been frequently seen in public without her engagement ring sparking split rumours however she has insisted on several occasions that it is at the cleaners.
