Person Of Interest season 5 premiere date and synopsis: Finch and Reese try to repair the Machine in episode 1
Person of Interest (POI) returns with its final season on 3 May at 10pm EST on CBS. In the premiere episode of season 5 titled B.S.O.D., John Reese and Harold Finch are prepared to do whatever it takes to resuscitate what is left of the Machine.
The official synopsis for episode 1 reads as follows:
The season 4 finale featured the war between two artificial intelligence surveillance systems — the Machine and Samaritan — and the POI team members trying to win the war. Samaritan attacked the Machine, who was hiding in the power grid, in an attempt to weaken it. However, Reese, Root, and Finch downloaded the Machine's core data and safely stored it inside a briefcase on the retreat.
The upcoming season will pick up with Finch and Reese doing whatever it takes to resuscitate what is left of the Machine's source code before it deteriorates beyond repair.
The Network has announced that POI will air twice a week — Mondays and Tuesdays — at 10 PM EST and the final season will consist of 13 episodes. Executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman told IGN: "We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans — the best fans in the world."
"This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter."
Can the Machine be saved? We will have to wait till the season 5 premiere to find out.
