'I May Have To Emigrate to the US': Piers Morgan Reacts With a Facepalm Emoji to Sussexes' UK Return
Broadcaster Piers Morgan reacts to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to relocate

English broadcaster Piers Morgan made a scathing response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's plans to return to the UK.
Reports emerged on 19th of August that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to relocate to the UK to raise their two children in Harry's native country. They had stepped away from royal duties and moved to the US in 2020, following pressure from the media and a breakdown of relations with the royal family.
Morgan, a staunch critic of 'Megxit' and Prince Harry, took to the social media platform X to post a facepalm emoji in response to the news. 'I may have to emigrate to the US', he followed up in a later post.
Piers Morgan's Criticism of Harry and Meghan
Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry, Morgan and Markle actually had been friends. In an interview with the Guardian, Morgan recalled an incident where 'he put her in a cab after a two hour chat', then 'went to a dinner party where Harry was' after which he 'never hear[d] from her again'. Morgan also remarked, 'I just found her incredibly shallow and the social-climbing element quite appalling'.
Since then, Morgan has gone to great lengths to express his dislike for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which was even further amplified after they left royal duties. His comments on Good Morning Britain against Markle regarding her and Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey even led him to quit the program in March 2021.
Morgan had also recently criticised the couple's decision to post pictures of their children. 'My old friends the Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep preaching to us about privacy and about the need to be careful online, and how dangerous it is for kids – and then what did they do? They upload photographs of their five-year-old child on social media [for her birthday] to billions of people, immediately recognisable.'
Morgan continued, 'And I'm like, 'What are you doing? What is this about? Why would you preach about privacy? Why would you lecture the world to be very careful with children online and then put your own child out there to millions of people? It makes no sense to me'.
The Duke and Duchess' Plans to Return to the UK
News of Harry and Meghan's return to the UK left people bewildered, with some replying to Morgan's post.
One commented, 'Six years of interviews, books, and Netflix documentaries later... and they're moving back. The plot twist nobody asked for.'
Another speculated that the King played a role in their return. 'I suspect this is driven by the King's health...'
The Telegraph reported that the King was informed of their arrangement on Sunday, 16th of August, and that he was delighted to be able to spend time with them.
The Sussexes have enrolled their two children at school in the UK. Their residence in California and vacation home in Portugal will still be retained.
Despite their return, it has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan will not resume royal duties.
