Pretty Little Liars cancelled after season 7? Show creator Marlene King weighs in
Pretty Little Liars fans are eagerly waiting for the second half of season 6, which will introduce a new big bad villain who is much more dangerous than A. CeCe Drake aka Charlotte's confession of the crime in the first part of season 6 has led to speculations that the show has nothing more to carry forward the story of Aria, Emily, Alison, Hanna and Spencer.
Affirming the rumours, show creator Marlene King said the popular teen thriller will end after season 7. "I think that this story when we're back will end next year at the end of Season 7," she told Variety. The statement almost confirms that Pretty Little Liars won't have a season 8. The news, however, has not been confirmed by the show broadcaster, ABC Family.
Pretty Little Liars is leaping five years forward after the big A revelation and will focus on how the liars fared during these five years. Upon Alison's request, the girls will return to Rosewood to give a testimony in favour of Charlotte to ease her prison terms.
Though the girls will come to help their friend, they will be in deep trouble after they start receiving anonymous life-threatening messages. This is how the show will introduce another antagonist who is much more dangerous than A and will be on a killing spree in Rosewood.
King has already hinted that the Big Bad is related to one of the girls and holds a mission against her. "This Big Bad has an agenda, and it's to find out why this person passes away — and to seek revenge on the person responsible. And it will not stop until that person pays, and [the Big Bad] will kill people to get that answer," King told MTV.
