Tom Hanks is the latest victim of death hoax on the same joke website which reported the death rumour of American country singer, Reba McEntire.

The report read: "Actor Tom Hanks died while filming a movie in New Zealand early this morning - January 31, 2012.
Preliminary reports from New Zealand Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 60 feet to his death on the Kauri Cliffs while on-set. Specific details are not yet available. The accident occurred at aproximatly 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12). Additional details and information will be forthcoming".

However the disclaimer at the bottom of the website has the giveaway.

It says: "About this web site. (this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment. For sub-domain info and additional use restrictions: FakeAWish.com)".

Singer Reba McEntire was on Monday the victim of the death hoax spree happening for the last several weeks. The social networking sites went into a tizzy with rumours of the star dying while filming for a movie.

"Reba McEntire has reportedly fallen to death while climbing the Hahnenkamm mountains in remote Austri," said a report from "FakeAWish.com".

Without realising the report as a prank, worried fans of the star shared the rumour adding to the frenzy.

McEntire was active on twitter on Monday updating about her new appearance on NBC's geneology series: "What Do You Think You Are?".

She tweeted on Monday, reba Reba McEntire: "My episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are' will air March 2nd on NBC! Can't wait to watch the final edit! We filmed for."

Celebrity death rumours have become the latest prank on social networking sites, apart from websites dedicated to fake reports.

For the last several days, twitter has been abuzz with death rumours of celebrities like Cher, Demi Moore and Adele.

The tendency has been despised by most of the fans of the affected celebrities.
