Rick Ross arrested on kidnapping, assault and battery charges at Fayette County mansion
US rapper Rick Ross has been arrested for kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated assault, according to reports.
The 39 year old, real name William Leonard Roberts II, was reportedly taken into police custody in Fayette County, Georgia, in relation to an incident which took place on 7 June.
TMZ reports that officers from the US Marshals Service arrived at the Grammy nominee's Fayetteville mansion on the morning of 24 June and arrested the rapper, along with his bodyguard.
Law enforcement sources have allegedly told the website that the assault charge is in relation to a pistol-whipping and the kidnapping charge is because the victim, reported to be a contract worker, was not allowed to leave the property.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Department is said to have contacted the Marshals a couple of days prior to the arrest to assist.
Due to the Hustlin' rapper's frequent travelling, the Marshals reportedly gathered details of his schedule and decided when it would be an appropriate time and date to arrest him.
It is said that the Marshals are typically called in to assist with dangerous warrants or if high-profile figures are involved.
A statement from the police reads: "Members of the U.S. Marshalls Southeastern Regional Task Force executed arrest warrants on William Roberts and Nadrian James.
"They were arrested in Fayetteville, Georgia, without incident as a result of this investigation."
Jim Joyner from the Marshal unit told the Associated Press: "They refused to open the gate, so we opened the gate for them. They didn't put up a struggle or anything."
Earlier in June, the Aston Martin Music hitmaker was arrested for marijuana possession and released on bail.
