Rocket League Hoops: Psyonix reveals free basketball-themed mode
Rocket League won't be just a car-football game for much longer. Developer Psyonix has revealed that a basketball-themed mode will be added to the game later this year, and it might be called Rocket League Hoops.
Psyonix announced their next new game mode in a tweet, illustrated with a screenshot, which said: "March Madness is just around the corner. Great time to tease the mode we're working on next." The hashtag #RocketLeagueHoops was also included, perhaps hinting at the mode's name.
Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham revealed in a subsequent tweet that the new mode will be released to all PS4, PC and Xbox One players for free, but also that it won't be out in March - as some had been led to believe from the initial tweet's mention of March Madness.
March Madness is a month-long college basketball tournament in the US, which would have provided the opportune time to release the new Rocket League mode, but Psyonix sadly won't have the mode ready in time to be released later this month.
Rocket League was released on PS4 and PC last July, and arrived on Xbox One in mid-February. Earlier this month Psyonix announced the first official Rocket League Championship Series, which will offer a $75,000 (£52,000) prize pool.
