Russell Brand Fined £3,200 for Criminal Damage, Claims Tribute to Steve Jobs
Singer Katy Perry's ex-husband Russell Brand was arrested, fined and then released on bail, for snatching a photographer's iPhone and throwing it out the window.
The photographer in question, Timothy Jackson, was trying to take Brand's picture when the actor got angry, snatched the phone and threw it a glass window.
"Officers picked up Mr Brand from Harrah's Casino, where he was working on a film. He was arrested without incident," Remi Braden, Director of Public Affairs at the New Orleans Police Department said to the BBC.
The actor tried to laugh off the issue by tweeting he did what he did to pay homage to late Apple founder, Steve Jobs.
"Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory," he explained.
However, the New Orleans police apparently did not feel the same. The actor was fined for £3,200 and later released on bail.
The British comedian recently split from Katy Perry, ending their 14-month marriage.
