Samsung Galaxy S3 Vs Galaxy Beam: Can Next Galaxy Project Itself as a Winner?
Samsung launched a rather revolutionary new high-end smartphone - one with a 15 lumen built-in projector - at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The smartphone allows users to display and share multimedia content on almost any surface and up to 50in wide. The smartphone also features a dedicated app, which makes it easy to select content and activate projection. The device retails in the UK for approximately £430, according to Mobilewitch.
Meanwhile, Samsung announced its third generation Galaxy S smartphone on 3 May and it will be available in the UK by the end of this month. Featuring a 4.8in HD Super AMOLED display and powered by Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), the Samsung Galaxy S3 provides an ergonomic and comfortable experience through its human-centric design.

Display: The Samsung Galaxy Beam features a 4.0in WVGA TFT touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.
Dimension: The Galaxy Beam measures 64.2 x 124 x 12.5mm and weighs 145.3g. The Galaxy S3 measures 136.6x70.6x8.6mm and weighs a little lighter than the Galaxy Beam, at 133g.
Operating System: The Galaxy Beam runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. The Galaxy S3 will run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Processor: The Samsung Galaxy Beam is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and 768MB of RAM. Prior to the launch of the Galaxy S3, Samsung announced the new smartphone would be powered by a 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 quad-core processor with twice the processing capabilities of the 45nm process-based Exynos 4 dual-core processor. A test conducted by Slash Gear suggested the quad-core Exynos process was powerful and capable enough of taking on its market rivals. The S3 has 1GB of RAM.
Camera: The Galaxy Beam sports a five megapixel primary camera with a resolution of 2592 x 1944pixels. It features auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection technology. The camera can record 720p video at 30 frames per second. The handset also sports a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. The Galaxy S3 will sport a primary camera of eight megapixels with auto-focus and LED flash. The camera has a technology called Zero-Lag Shutter Speed that allows users to capture moving objects. The smartphone also features a 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera which can record HD videos at 30 frames per second. The Galaxy S3 also has a feature called Burst Shot, which allows users to capture 20 continuous frames.
Connectivity: The Galaxy Beam offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth version 3.0+HS. The Galaxy Beam has a 3.5mm ear jack. The Galaxy S3 offers Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi HT40 and Bluetooth version 4.0, as well as Near Field Communication (NFC).
Storage: The Galaxy Beam has 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 32GB using a microSD slot. The Galaxy S3 offers three internal memory storage options of 16/32/64GB (the latter is not yet available) and also offers a microSD slot.
Battery: The Galaxy Beam runs on a Li-ion battery with a capacity of 2000mAh. The Galaxy S3 is powered by a 2,100mAh battery.
