Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2015: Beauty queens battle it out wearing huge 80kg dresses on wheels
Fourteen women wearing huge, elaborate costumes battled it out to become carnival queen in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands.
The spectacular costumes – covered in feathers, sequins and jewels – can be more than 5m high and weigh over 80kg, so it's perhaps not surprising that the women wearing them are wheeled onto the stage on castors to perform for the judges.
In this gallery IBTimes UK looks at this year's contestants. We reveal the winners at the end of the gallery.
Adtemexi Hernández Cruz, 27, was crowned Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2015.
She wore a gold and black creation made of beads and feathers, called "Aurea", designed by Jorge González.
