Shah Rukh Khan to Play Nehru in Film on Indira Gandhi’s Life? [PHOTOS]

Shah Rukh Khan may be putting on the years... but he remains Bollywood's quintessential face of romance and love.

The veteran actor does have a reasonable range of roles ("Swades" and "Chak De" come to mind) to his credit but it is always his more romantically-charged films that seem to generate the most attention.

So how then do we picture him as the first Prime Minister of India... as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru?

According to Zee News, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Bruce Beresford (of "Driving Miss Daisy" fame), is in India, planning a film on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and is pinning his hopes on SRK playing Nehru for the project.
