Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan Rivalry: Happy New Year Fails to Break Kick and Dhoom 3 Record?
Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Happy New Year is enjoying a glorious run at the box office but it looks like SRK's new film has failed to surpass the first week box office collections of rival Salman Khan's Kick and Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3.
While HNY has established several new records at the Box Office including the biggest opening day and opening weekend, Kick and Dhoom 3 continue to be the top films for first week box office collections, according to a Bollywood Life report.
"We say so because at the end of first week Happy New Year's domestic box office collection stands at Rs 157.57 crore (£ 16mn approx.) whereas Salman's Kick had earned Rs 164.09 crore and the third installment of Dhoom franchise had minted Rs 188.98 crore in the same duration," states BL.
However, HNY still has a chance to become the highest grossing film of Bollywood as there is hardly any competition ahead for the film.
Happy New Year, a comic caper, centers around six "losers" who fake participating in a dance competition in an attempt to pull off the greatest diamond heist ever. Apart from SRK and Padukone, the film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah. HNY is directed by Farah Khan.
