Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year Breaks Opening Weekend Record; Social Media Reacts With Hilarious HNY Tweets
Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year continues its record breaking streak at the box-office!
The SRK starrer has become the biggest box office grosser in India for the opening weekend.
It has collected Rs.108.86 crore (1bn rupees, around £10m) on the opening weekend for India, with Rs. 104.10 crore coming from the Hindi version, Rs. 2.92 crore for the dubbed Telugu version and Rs. 1.84 crore for the dubbed Tamil version, reported BollywoodLife.
CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment, Venky Mysore, said, "We are thrilled that after Chennai Express had set a new record in 2013, Happy New Year has set another new benchmark. We are grateful for the ongoing love and support of audience."
Gaurav Verma, Chief Revenue Officer of RCE added, "We are thankful to all our partners, exhibitors and especially YRF for helping us achieve this significant milestone."
But the increasing popularity of the movie has also invited numerous derisive tweets. Fans took a dig at the movie with a sarcastic #HNYBestFilmEver tag trending in India.
