Sinead O'Connor has split from her fourth husband just 16 days after they exchanged vows in a Las Vegas "drive-thru" wedding earlier this month.

In true celebrity style, the Nothing Compares 2 U singer got hitched to addictions therapist Barry Herridge on 8 December, but the couple only managed to live together for seven days before calling it quits on Christmas Eve.

The 45-year-old Irish star claimed that the collapse of their short marriage was due to her husband's friends conspiring to come between them and ruin their union.

O'Connor explained on her blog: "From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me.

"Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over, the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life." she added.

The mother-of-four, who suffers from bipolar disorder, admitted in her online post that she spent her wedding night looking for marijuana.

The unlikely pair met after O'Connor advertised on Twitter in August for a "very sweet sex-starved man" and Herridge contacted her by email.

She ended her blog by saying: "He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage," adding that she has had "plenty of practice in these matters" and that her latest husband was "too nice to trap".

O'Connor has not had much success in achieving matrimonial bliss. Her former husbands include music producer John Reynolds, music journalist Nick Sommerlad and musician Steve Cooney.
