5-year-old 'hanging by the neck' in an elevator saved by sister's quick action

Street smartness is the most important thing and a little girl from Istanbul, Turkey proved it when she saved her brother from being strangled to death.

The CCTV footage showed three children entering the elevator and one of them holding the door for the rest. No sooner did the door close than the boy is hoisted up into the air by a rope around his neck.

Thankfully, his sister is quick on her feet and quickly grabs his feet and presses the emergency button. The video ends with the sister releasing the boy from the noose and pulling him down.

This incident was highlighted on Twitter by People's Daily, China. They wrote, "Horrifying moment! Sister stayed calm and saved the boy who got hang by toy rope inside an elevator in Istanbul, Turkey." The little girl soon became the 'hero' all over the internet.

The video posted on August 1 has garnered 35,000 views and counting.
