Overview
Wawrinka had a slight scare in the second round clash. He won the first two sets comfortably against Dusan Lajovic on Wednesday, before losing the third set to the Serbian. However, the World number eight bounced back and won the fourth set comfortably.
The Swiss tennis star won the match against Lajovic 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. The set dropped in the second round tie was the first time Wawrinka lost a set in the ongoing competition. However, he managed to rectify his mistakes and come back stronger in the third round where he beat Steve Johnson in straight sets 6-4 6-3 6-2.
Meanwhile, Simon had to fight hard to seal a berth in the fourth round. The Frenchman won the first set against Nicolas Mahut but lost the next two, giving him a massive scare. But he held on to his nerves and won the last two sets to secure a five set marathon.
