They said it wouldn't last and, well, it didn't. Stephanie Davis and Jeremy McConnell have called time on their short-lived relationship, just over two weeks since they left the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Having spent three weeks cooped up together, romance blossomed between the pair who quickly professed their love for one another despite facing criticism from their housemates. The 23-year-old had been flirting with the Irish model in the Celebrity Big Brother House, despite being in a long-term relationship with model Sam Reece. She later dumped Sam live on national TV.

The two were undeterred and made plans to go on holiday once they left the house and even talked about marriage, dismissing suggestions that it was all a 'showmance' for the benefit of the cameras.

Since leaving the house, their rollercoaster relationship showed no signs of slowing down, with the pair caught in an almighty row at their hotel and later spotted together in the Irish model's hometown of Dublin.

They tweeted images of their romantic hotel stay and were seen looking at rings and appearing loved-up. Earlier she posted a photo of the ring with the caption: My beautiful ring of my baby @JezzaMcConnell a day without you feels like a year. You make me so happy. I love you. " By February 21 it was all over.

They were recently featured looking cosy on the front cover of OK! Magazine, but just days later and they've already unfollowed each other on the social media site.

In a tweet which he later deleted Jeremy hinted at the break-up writing: "I have been the biggest mug. I'm sorry for the people who tried to warn me. But you live and learn. Onwards and upwards. (sic)"

Stephanie too expressed her disillusion at her latest heartbreak, as she shared a photograph of a couple in a passionate embrace with the message: "When you first fall in love, it's supposed to be awful. Awful, uncertain, scary, wonderful, confusing, all at once. That's how you know it's real. You have to care deeply. Passionately. That hurts."

Neither wasted any time to move on. Jeremy was spotted out on the town with several female admirers, while Stephanie, having cut her brunette hair and dyed it blonde, was spotted on a night out with former housemate Christopher Maloney in Liverpool. The ex-Hollyoaks actress was all smiles, despite her split.

Sharing an inspirational quote about moving on from the pain of the past, the actress wrote: "Time to let go of the past for good and years of pain. I've never felt so good ... It's so nice to let my self be loved in love and happy. You can't move forward whilst still living in the past, that's one thing I know. Time to hold my head up ... And enjoy the future ... And close the book to them bad years! ... Starting ... with a major hair change haha.... Blondes have more fun anyway..."

The pair were due to make a joint appearance on Loose Women to talk about their romance, but the interview has been cancelled. While Jeremy and Stephanie find themselves single again, it turns out Sam Reece had the last laugh after all.
