Warning: Potential spoilers ahead
Amell said, "I had the pleasure of reading episode 501 [season 5 episode 1] of Arrow yesterday [22 June], and then having a nice chat with fight coordinator James Bamford, who is directing episode 501 and 502 of Arrow."
"We are doing something we have never done before. It's called the cross-board. Anyway, suffice to say that episode 501 of Arrow has an opportunity for us to quite literally have the most vicious, violent one-shot, which is when there is no cut, in the history of network television"
"I insisted that it is going to be me, no stunt double," and he [Bamford] says, "Fine, then you got to do it shirtless'," added the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actor. Revealing that Arrow will begin filming for season 5 on 5 July, the actor revealed, "If episode 501 is any indication, Arrow is going to be f*****g mean this year, and that's really exciting."
Amell also confirmed a new suit in season 5 and added that it will be a "slightly modified version". Although the actor refused to comment on the Legends Of Tomorrow actor's cameo in the season 5 premiere, he revealed a surprise appearance from "someone we haven't seen in two full seasons".
Arrow season 5 will feature sinister players with a connection to Oliver's past, who will push the team to its breaking point, threatening everything Oliver's worked for and his legacy as the Green Arrow. The fifth season of Arrow premieres on 5 October on The CW network.
