Superdry
SuperGroup owns the popular Superdry brand, which it will bring to Turkey through Demsa stores (SuperGroup)

British fashion retailer SuperGroup is partnering with Demsa Group to expand its business into the growing Turkish market.

SuperGroup, which is popular for its American-Japanese inspired Superdry fashion brand, signed a five year exclusive franchise deal with Demsa to open a minimum of eight new stores in the country.

Under the deal, Demsa will open three stores in Turkey by the beginning of 2014. Two stores will be opened in Istanbul, one of which will be at the city's Zorlu Project Mall. The other will be in the Turkish capital Ankara.

"Turkey is a territory that has held our interest for some time and our partnership with Demsa Group offers the perfect opportunity to enter this diverse and growing market," said Julian Dunkerton, chief executive officer of SuperGroup.

"Demsa Group has an excellent understanding of our brand ethos and we look forward to growing the partnership."

The Superdry brand will be carried by the Demsa Group within their Harvey Nichols department stores and in its multi-brand concept stores Brand Room.

Chief Executive of Demsa Group, Cengiz Cetindogan, said his company "aims to broaden the portfolio of investments and SuperGroup presented the perfect opportunity in the retail sector to partner with."

In July, SuperGroup signed a 10 year distribution agreement with FJ Benjamin as it plans to grow the Superdry brand in Malaysia and Singapore. The brand is likely to open its first store in Kuala Lumpur in November 2013.

The London Stock Exchange listed SuperGroup operates in over 50 countries through its network of franchises and licenses, and is present in 100 countries through its online shopping websites.
