Superhero movies adapted from the comic books have been the rage since some years now. These fictional movies have managed to captivate the minds of audiences from different age groups with special effects playing a huge role in bringing these stories to life.

Some major studios have been heavily cashing in on these movies with fans always ready to grab hold of tickets to the next superhero film. The fans will be thrilled to know that some superhero movies is set to release in a few months, while others are in the works.

Check out the superhero movies that will be released from 2016 to 2020:

1. Suicide Squad

The movie, based on a long-running DC Comics series, will see a gang of antiheroes take on dangerous missions in exchange for a commuted sentences.

The cast of the movie includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Harley Quinn (Robbie), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress).

The movie opens in US and UK theatres on 5 August 2016.

2. Doctor Strange

In the next big movie from Marvel, Benedict Cumberbatch's character Stephen Strange, a former neurosurgeon, will be bestowed magical powers by a hermit called the Ancient One after his hands are damaged in a car accident.

The cast of the movie includes Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor plays the villain Baron Mordo among others.

The movie will be released on 28 October 2016 in the UK, and 4 November 2016 in the US.

3. The LEGO Batman Movie

The animated Batman movie is a spinoff to The LEGO movie that will sees Will Arnett play the dark knight, while Michael Cera is Robin and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker. Other cast members are Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes and Mariah Carey.

The movie premieres in the UK on 10 February 2017, and 20 February in the US.

4. Wolverine III

The second Wolverine sequel will be the last time Hugh Jackman will reprise the role of the adamantium-clawed mutant. The movie will explore the father-son relationship between Logan and Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart, and is expected to be set in a dystopian America, ruled by the supervillains Logan once fought. The cast of the movie includes Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Richard E Grant.

The movie premieres in the UK on 2 March 2017 and in the US on 3 March.

5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The makers of the movie have been tight-tipped about the movie's plot but it is said that the story-line will involve the parentage of Chris Pratt's character Peter Quill/Star-Lord. Kurt Russell will be playing the mysterious role of Quill's alien birth father.

The cast of the movies includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Kurt Russell, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Tom Flanagan.

The film premieres in the UK on 28 April 2017 and in the US on 5 May.

6. Wonder Woman

Warner Bros latest movie set in the world of Man of Steel will be the first solo female-led superhero movie from either Marvel or DC for more than a decade. Gal Gadot, who made her first appearance as the Amazon princess in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will reprise the role once again, while her love interest Steve Trevor will be played by Chris Pine. The movie will be set during World War I.

The cast includes Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.

The movie opens in theatres in the UK and US on 2 June 2017.

7. Spider-Man: Homecoming

The movie will see Tom Holland's Spiderman in high school with Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark said to make an appearance, possibly as the webslinger's mentor. Michael Keaton is rumoured to play the film's villain: Vulture.

The cast of the movie includes Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Robert Downey Jr among others.

The movie release in the US on 7 July 2017.

8. Thor: Ragnarok

Nothing much is known about the movie's plot details except that Cate Blanchett will be playing the main villain Hela, while Tessa Thompson is Valkyrie and Karl Urban is the villain's muscle Skurge. However, Mark Ruffalo may appear as Bruce Banner, meaning the Hulk will also be there.

The cast of the movie includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins.

The movie opens in UK on 27 October and the US on 3 November 2017.
