Taylor Swift moving to Scotland? Pop star 'eyeing £4.6m castle' to be near DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris
They say that if you love somebody you will move heaven and hell to get to them. And it looks like Taylor Swift is preparing to make the ultimate romantic gesture. According to reports the pop superstar is eyeing up a £4.6million ($7.2m) 16th-century Scottish castle to be close to her beau, DJ Calvin Harris.
According to the Daily Mail, the Shake It Off hitmaker is trading her Rhode Island mansion for a UK base with speculation that she is interested in buying the Tower of Lethendy, north of Perth in Scotland.
The property boasts eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms in the main house and dates back to 1570. Its also features two gate lodges and two staff cottages – along with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and heated swimming pool.
A source told The Scotsman newspaper: "Taylor is all about romances. She is looking forward to snuggling up by a roaring fire with Calvin and embracing Scottish traditions."
If the 25-year-old songstress does add the property to her portfolio, it wouldn't be the first time she had bought a home for love. In 2012, she moved next door to then-boyfriend Conor Kennedy. But she soon discovered that she was moving too fast after their relationship turned sour.
In 2014, she joked that she drove her boyfriends away by moving close to them, telling Vanity Fair: "People say that about me, that I apparently buy houses near every boy I like. If I like you I will apparently buy up the real estate market just to freak you out so you leave me."
Swift, 25 and Dumfries-born Harris, 31, have been dating since February when they met at the Brit awards. The couple made their relationship public when Swift kissed Harris during the Billboard Music Awards 2015, held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on 17 May.
News of the imminent moves comes weeks after the power couple were named Forbes magazine's highest-paid celebrity couple of 2015. The lovebirds took the top spot with combined earnings of $146m over the past 12 months – a staggering $35.5m more than former top earners Beyonce Knowles and Jay Z.
