Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston dating: Wendy Williams claims star is 'using' songstress
Couple went public with their romance earlier in June.
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have racked up their share of headlines in recent weeks after going public with their romance. But now, Wendy Williams, has offered her viewpoint on their relationship with the controversial chat show host accusing the English actor of using the pop superstar to raise his international profile after declaring his interest in becoming the new James Bond.
Discussing the new power couple during her Hot Topics segment she branded Swift naïve and claimed Hiddleston was nothing more than an opportunist. "He's a thirty something but I suspect he is also a bit of opportunist," she said. " I'm going to tell you why: First of all he wants to be the next James Bond and he's English. I've never heard of this guy before – so how do you drum up votes by getting on hot topic, how do you get on hot topics? By dating somebody we talk about ."
The 50-year-old TV personality also claimed that the couple were moving too fast and that Swift was old enough to know better. "So Taylor Swift and this new boyfriend of hers Tom Hiddleston... apparently they're getting serious. It's only been three weeks and she's 26, that's old enough to understand that you don't show your feelings on your sleeve in three weeks."
The outspoken TV host added: "This past weekend Taylor took Tom to meet her parents in Nashville after only three weeks of dating! Who does that? Then Taylor flew to England and met Tom's mom. This is not good ya'll."
Just weeks after announcing her split from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, the We Are Never Getting Back Together songstress was pictured locked in a passionate clinch with her new beau during a romantic stroll on the beach close to her Rhode Island home.
Williams rounded up her dissection by offering Harris some advice: "Calvin is talking real girly about Taylor on the 'gram, saying that Taylor controlled the media and the entire situation and now he feels free. Well, you know what? I totally believe that, but you don't have to say it, Calvin. Just go on with your life. You've got what you needed out of Taylor, which is to be on Hot Topics — and so Tom's got next!" she said.
As IBTimes UK previously reported, Swift and Hiddleston are yet to confirm the romance and specualtion is still rife over whether it is true love or simply a showmance. According to body language expert Judi James, it is clear from the pictures that theirs is already an intense affair. "Tom has enveloped Taylor in a double arm lock and a complete, encircling leg lock as he plants his kiss. This type of Koala hugging is intense and possessive and intimate. It's a rare gesture in a passionate marriage, let alone on a first date," she says.
