Tormund kissing Brienne? Check out this hilarious video of the Game of Thrones characters' romance
Kristofer Hivju shared the video in response to numerous requests from fans to see a romance between the two characters.
Treachery, brutality, war and death are common enough in Game of Thrones so fans are always on the lookout for those traces of happiness... be it in the form of reunion of long-lost siblings, strategic success, or in the case of Tormund and Brienne, the possibility of romance.
In the premiere episode of season 7 of the show, we saw that the Wildling leader still seemed to harbour a flame for the tall, blonde female warrior and we kept our fingers crossed that his gruff manner and almost puppy-like admiration would soften her regard.
While we wait in the hopes of something developing between the two, Kristofer Hivju, the actor who plays Tormund treated fans to a special video that is bound to have you in laughs.
Using action figurines of the two characters, he put on a little skit in which he tries to woo the Lady of Tarth.
"Come here baby," he says from behind the camera as he moves his figure towards the sword-wielding one of Brienne. "Uh oh! Careful with that sword," he adds before some quick blade action that builds up to the two kissing. The camera then pans on Hivju holding the two figures and making kissing sounds.
The figurines may have got some lip-time but according to Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne, the case may not be the same for the HBO show's characters. Speaking to Newsweek ahead of the premiere, she explained that the flirtation seen on screen was an improvisation on the part of Hivju and not part of the script.
D B Weiss confirmed the same to Entertainment Weekly. "There was the episode where they're all leaving Castle Black together and there's a shot — it wasn't scripted at all — of two of them on horseback and she looks at him and he smiles at her. It's not something you could ever write," the co-showrunner explained.
"It's just this moment where this guy is creeping out on her and he smiles in a way that makes her very uncomfortable and she just looks away. I saw it 150 times and every time it made me laugh; it's purely the two of them."
Despite their comments, the two warriors have become fodder for a range of adorably funny memes on the internet.
